Unlike chrome tanning, vegetable tanning allows skin of animal origin to be tanned in a way that is healthy for the environment and for artisans, thanks to substances naturally present in plants: tannins. The result is a non-allergenic, natural-looking leather that will develop a beautiful patina with age. It will also absorb moisture better and be firmer and more durable than chrome tanned leather.
